Social Media Designs

Wheaton College

The Business and Economics Department at Wheaton College (MA) offers concentrations in Marketing, International Business, and Creative Arts Management, along with a dedicated Finance major and a 4+1 M.S. in Business program.

As the social media content creator and designer, I developed content promoting its academic programs, student opportunities, events, and community.

The Challange

The department had a limited online presence, making it difficult to connect with current students, prospective students, and alumni where they were most active: social media. It needed a recognizable Instagram presence that could promote programs and activities while remaining connected to Wheaton College’s broader brand identity. The department also needed an efficient creative system that would reduce design time, support multiple posts each week, and maintain consistency.

The Solution

I created a friendly, student-centered content strategy that positioned the department as a supportive resource for academic and professional success. The content highlighted the opportunities, experiences, and guidance most relevant to students while making faculty members, alumni, and departmental resources feel more approachable.

I developed recurring series to build recognition and encourage continued engagement, including:
• Alumni success stories that demonstrated potential career paths and built confidence among students and prospective families
• Internship spotlights that celebrated students’ professional experiences
• Internships for You, featuring relevant opportunities for business and economics students
• Let’s Talk Internships, offering practical guidance on finding internships and connecting with the Life and Career Design Institute (LCDI)
• Faculty and student features that strengthened community by sharing personal interests, favorite books, and individual experiences

Reusable templates established a consistent creative direction for these series, allowing the department to publish content more frequently without compromising quality or alignment with the college’s identity.

The Results

I designed more than 20 Instagram posts per semester using Adobe Creative Suite, with content shaped by Gen Z students’ interests and priorities. The strategy increased engagement by 13.85%, resulting in a 7.4% engagement rate. Reusable templates also reduced design time by 50% while maintaining 100% brand consistency across published content.
